A classic Kvarner loop departing from Marina Novi Vinodolski. This route takes you through the heart of the Kvarner Gulf — the medieval town of Rab, the lively shores of Novalja, and the historically fascinating Goli Otok — before returning home via the scenic rocky coast of Baška on Krk. We had never sailed the Kvarner before and were completely overwhelmed by the beauty of it. The crew knew every hidden bay on Lošinj and Unije that you won't find in any guidebook. Our children still talk about it as the best holiday of their lives.

Got Questions?

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before setting sail.

Croatian law requires at least one person aboard to hold a valid nautical licence and a VHF radio operator's licence. For bareboat charters, we require copies of both before confirming your booking and the originals must be aboard throughout the voyage. If you don't hold a valid licence, no problem — simply book with one of our professional skippers, who will handle all navigation while you relax and enjoy the Kvarner.

The charter price covers the vessel, all standard safety equipment, bed linen and towels, and a full briefing on your route and the local area. For skippered charters, the skipper's fees are included. Marina fees, fuel, food, drinks, and any national park entry fees (such as Kornati) are settled separately during the voyage. We provide a full breakdown at booking so there are no surprises.

Cancellations made more than 60 days before departure receive a full refund of the deposit. Cancellations between 30 and 60 days before departure forfeit 50% of the deposit. Cancellations within 30 days of departure forfeit the full deposit. We strongly recommend taking out comprehensive travel insurance to cover unexpected changes to your plans.

A 30% deposit is required to confirm your charter reservation. We accept bank transfer (IBAN provided on invoice) and major credit and debit cards. The remaining balance is due 30 days before your departure date. After your inquiry is reviewed, you'll receive a confirmation email with two copies of the charter contract, an invoice, an empty crew list, and a blank provisioning list.

We welcome well-behaved dogs on board on most of our vessels, subject to prior approval. Please inform us when making your inquiry so we can confirm suitability for your chosen yacht and advise on any additional cleaning deposit. Cats and other pets are considered on a case-by-case basis.

Yes — most guests provision themselves, and we provide a blank provisioning list at booking to help you plan. There are well-stocked supermarkets near Marina Novi Vinodolski, and many ports along the routes have local markets with fresh produce, fish, and regional specialities. If you would like to arrange a catering package or have specific dietary needs, contact us and we can recommend local suppliers.

All Maro Charter vessels are equipped with a 4G maritime router providing WiFi throughout the yacht. Signal strength varies depending on your location — it's strong near the mainland and in marinas, and lighter in more remote anchorages like Unije or Goli Otok. We also encourage you to embrace a little digital detox — the Kvarner has a way of making you forget your inbox.

Bring soft-sided bags or duffel bags — hard suitcases take up valuable locker space. Essentials: light breathable clothing, a warm layer for evenings (Kvarner nights can be cooler than expected), non-slip deck shoes with white or light soles, swimwear, SPF 50+ sunscreen, UV sunglasses with a strap, and a wide-brim hat. The Adriatic sun reflected off water is intense. Leave heavy electronics and valuables at home and pack light.

May and June offer the best balance of good wind, warm temperatures, and uncrowded anchorages — ideal for first-time Kvarner sailors. September is the experienced sailor's favourite: the sea is at its warmest, crowds have gone, and the light is extraordinary. July and August guarantee sunshine and the liveliest marinas but require more advance planning for berths. We recommend avoiding the first two weeks of August unless you enjoy the buzz of peak season.

Our vessels cater to different group sizes — from intimate couples' getaways to groups of up to 10 guests. Each vessel page lists the exact guest and cabin capacity. Day-trip charters may accommodate additional guests on deck. Contact us if you have a larger group and we can discuss tailored solutions or a multi-vessel charter.

Safety is our absolute priority. Our skippers monitor forecasts continuously — the Kvarner's Bora wind can arrive quickly and requires respect. If adverse weather prevents a planned passage, your skipper will choose a safe alternative anchorage and adjust the itinerary accordingly. Our 24/7 sea assistance team and Highfield patrol vessel are always on standby. In the rare case that an entire charter must be cancelled due to extreme weather, we will offer a full reschedule or refund.

Yes, all Maro Charter vessels carry full third-party liability maritime insurance and are equipped to Croatian Maritime Authority standards: life jackets for every person aboard, flares, fire extinguishers, bilge pumps, and first-aid kits — all inspected and certified before every departure. Life jackets for children are available on request; please specify ages at booking so we can ensure the correct sizes are aboard. Guests are advised to arrange personal travel and medical insurance independently.
